Warrior Princess  Fire Dance

Have I ever shared with you that I picture myself as a warrior princess?

If I’m a Christian soldier and I’m a child of the king, that makes me a warrior and a princess. In God’s eyes, I am His beautiful daughter, and I am ready to fight my Father’s enemies and defend helpless souls.

While I was writing ideas for this warrior princess theme, Charles Wesley’s hymn, “Soldiers of Christ Arise” started up in my brain. I didn’t even know I knew the song! I had to grab a hymnal and make sure it existed. Thanks to eminent domain, I can even share it with you, and it’s the same tune as “Crown Him With Many Crowns.”

Soldiers of Christ arise and put your armor on,

Strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son.

Strong in the Lord of Hosts, and in His mighty power,

Who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.

Several years ago, I had a dream where I was the defender of my loved ones, particularly those family members who were not saved. In that dream, when it came to defend those who needed God’s protection, I stood at the entrance to a cave. Those who needed protection were inside the cave, and my mission was to prevent evil from entering it.

As the enemy advanced toward the cave, my entire being burst into flame—Light preventing darkness from attacking those I loved. I whirled in intricate steps while sparks of the Holy Spirit flew out from me like fireworks sparkling their way to earth. But the sparkles were never quenched. As the dream ended, the sparkles continued. Not only did I prevail, solely due to my relationship with the King, I celebrated with a joyful dance of radiance.

Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued,

And take, to aid you in the fight, the panoply of God.

From strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray,

Tread all the powers of darkness down and win the light of day.

The dream is real. We engage in spiritual battle when we pray. We emanate beams of God’s Light. Those who need our prayers unconsciously recognize the sparkles swirling out from us. They may even admire those glowing embers and be drawn to the Light of Jesus. In celebration of God’s answers to our prayers, we continue our Fire Dance. And the Father watches with a contented smile on His face.

Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul;

Take every virtue, every grace, and fortify the whole.

That having all things done and all your conflicts past,

Ye may o’ercome through Christ alone and stand complete at last.

  1. I love this, Linda. What a powerful reminder of where we are seated in Christ and the reality of the spiritual battles in our midst. We are absolutely warrior princesses!

  2. Yes, we are! And I needed that reminder today. So thank you for choosing to comment at this particular hour. Our family received very sad news this morning. I was feeling bereft, then read my own words from last month. My armor is on, and I expect sparks from my prayers are surrounding the family members who need the most comfort.
