On this day we celebrate the historical birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Prince of peace, Emmanuel~God with us.
No other world religion has a god that came to his people other than the one true God that Christians worship. God became flesh through the person of Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. A precious babe who came not as the world would have expected a king to arrive or how kings are treated today but instead came as a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes to a young girl and her betrothed in a stable and lying in a manger.
His birth was also not pronounced to the elite in the village but to the lowest of the lowly, the shepherds in Bethlehem. That is the King of kings whose birth we celebrate not because of his birth on this particular day, because truth is we don’t know the exact date He was born, but because of why He was born: to save us from our sin.
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
Romans 3:22-24 NLT
This King of kings was born for all. May we all come to know personally and fully this King of kings, the Prince of peace, Emmanuel~God with us.
