He is Our Sufficiency

He is Our Sufficiency

Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5, AMP

I admit I am a fear fighter.

I get excited about visionary projects and then just at the threshold of launching them forward, I stand like a horse at the starting gate too paralyzed to enter the race. Fear grips me and I can hear voices from the past saying, You will fail. You don’t have what it takes. You will let everyone down.

The key to fighting this fear is to hold the lies I hear up next to the Truth I know.

God tells me I am not a failure, nor will I be. And it is not because of a single gift or skill I have, but all because of the spotless and powerful Savior, Jesus. He stands in my place, all-qualified and sufficient for any task I face. He is my sufficiency. And He is the Victor.

As I obey Him and step forward day by day, He works His sufficiency in me and demonstrates His competence to the world.

The One about whom they whispered to one another, “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? From where did He get this wisdom?” (Matthew 13:54-56) is the one who will turn our fear into competence for all the world to see. Our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.

Turn and look square in the face of that challenge today. You can do it.

  1. I love your second point about shedding the light of the truth on the lies of fear. When we can do that, the fear leaves and the ability of Christ comes out in us and we can accomplish what He called us to do.
