I Am Beautiful

I Am Beautiful

I am beautiful. I’m overweight. My eyes are small and get smallIMG_0104er when I laugh. My teeth are crooked. And I have cheeks (my face, not my booty….although I have those, too). But I am beautiful. My beauty does not depend on the numbers on the scale. My beauty does not depend on if I have acne, if I have a bad hair day, or if my clothes are a little tight. I am beautiful. My beauty does not depend on what other’s think of me. My beauty does not depend on how I compare myself to others, because I can tell you for sure and for certain, when I do compare, I come out lacking.

I am beautiful. Why? Because of this: “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” Psalm 139: 13-14.

I am beautiful. God formed me. He knew me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My soul knows this.

Oh, I struggle every so often. But I come back to the same thing, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. How are you feeling about yourself today? Do you feel unloved, ugly, overweight? Do you feel like your self worth is determined by your weight, your looks? Just know that the Creator of the Universe loves you, values you, and cherishes you. He sings over you. You are loved. God said so. He tells us in Jeremiah He has loved us with an everlasting love.

And if no one has told you today, or if you’ve heard it a dozen times, let me say this: YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

Joi, thank you so much for this delightful and honest message. It spoke to my heart today. I feel so blessed to not only have you as my friend, but also as my sister in Christ through our fellowship in Heart”wings.”

I was pleased to see some of our other sisters here as bloggers. Every single woman connected with “Putting On The New” would be absolutely perfect candidates for Heart”wings!” Share our group with them – share our blog link with them – ask them if they would bless us by joining our fellowship.

Yes, you are right, God has made me a rather aggressive “fisher of women” for Heart”wings” – His fellowship group. j

  2. Love this post, Joi! And it’s so true! Back in the 80s, I came to an agreement with God about accepting myself exactly as He created me. I quit thinking I could “improve” on how He’d made me with make-up or hair coloring and curling (I’m naturally straight) It freed me so much, it was a miracle! And think of all the $$ I’ve saved my husband over those years! I LOVE it that you’re so young and realizing and passing along this Truth 🙂 You ARE beautiful!

  5. Joi, your transparency is refreshing. I loved reading this post, and the reminder that God made each of us as we are . . . just as he wanted us to be. Inwardly and outardly. Do I like myself when I look in the mirror? Not really, but I am His child and He loves me, just the way I am. Thanks, Joi. Blessings in Him.

of it for saving issues I had been not focused on being in HD.

I changed my head however for a number of causes.
