You should never see salt without pepper, peanut butter without jelly, nor coffee without cream, because in life I have learned that there is always a Yin to the Yang why? Because somethings just belong together. Isn’t it wonderful that when you think of one, you are instantly compelled to think of the other? I could not help but ponder about my faith and realize I too belong with something–God– for when people encounter me shouldn’t they instantly associate me with the other? I sure hope so, for Paul said, “Those that He foreknew he also predestined to conform to the likeness of His son so that he may be the firstborn of many brethren.” (Romans 8:29)
As we walk through this life, this play, this overture which is leading those, that believe, to what we will ultimately be doing in heaven we are being conformed, pruned, and molded to His likeness so that when people encounter us they will indeed associate us as one who loves, serves and follows Jesus Christ.
“I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.” Exodus 6:7 & 8
I love that God states his position so emphatically to the Israelite’s, for it is a reminder to us all that God still wants to take us as his own, and he still wants to be our God. Will you not let him guide you, love you and shepherd you for all time? Personally, it is the best decision I have ever made and the sweetest peanut butter and jelly sandwich I have ever eaten. Yes, taste and see just how good the Lord truly is, for though we have not seen him we love him still. I am proud that when I think of who I am it is God that I know I belong to, and Jesus whom I know I serve. Why? Because He is my God and I am his people. For I am content and have resolved in my heart to resist no longer, because now I am convinced that somethings, simply, just belong together…
