Interview With Putting on the New Writer Barbara Harvey Carter

Meet the Writers

I am always so excited to get to know the writers here. They bring with them not just a heart for God but a passion for making the world better. Barbara Harvey Carter is an author who says:

“I have a passion for women’s issues and a burden for victims of domestic abuse because “it hurts and destroys individuals and families!” I have written an intriguing story that addresses subtle spousal abuse that began in a pre-marriage relationship in my first book– Bedeviled and continued after marriage in – Wormwood!  Scriptural references and tips are included to help readers assist victims dealing with relationship issues.”

Bedeviled and Wormwood are her books, which you can find on Amazon.

Barbara is a sweet soul who has already brought so much to Putting on the New with her words and insight. Enjoy this short interview.

Which Bible verse do you find yourself going to most often and why?

Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I find myself going to this verse quite often because my adversary, the devil, is always trying to find a hole in my armor to discourage, disappoint, frustrate and/or make me feel I’m not qualified. When the enemy whispers in my ear ‘you can’t do it,’ I speak loudly that I can do all things through Christ because it is not I, but Christ in me.

What’s your favorite way to connect with God?

My favorite way to connect with God is walking outside or sitting on the deck looking at His magnificent creation – the blue sky, white clouds, trees, grass, birds, squirrels – feeling the wind blow and knowing it is God’s favor to allow me to experience His awesomeness.

What advice would you give your younger self?

The advice I would give my younger self is to ‘listen’ to the advice of parents and those that have gone before me, who have already experienced some life events; and are able to show me roadblocks, obstacles, hurdles that I could avoid. I would advise my younger self to ‘let go’ of pride, self-will, rebellion, and trying to do it ‘my way’ without God.
