This month (on the 25th), it will be two years for us here at Putting on the New. Two. Years. I shake my head at that. Time has flown so fast, and God has done amazing things. Well, we knew He would! But it still blows me away when I look back at our beginning and see where we are now and where we are headed.
Back then, I had a vision, an idea, and that was it. I wanted a group of women to talk about our walk with the Lord. I wanted us to be able to share our stories. We have so many. We are all so different. And yet, as you’ll see from reading the posts here, there is a common element to our stories when faith is involved. As different as we are in every way, we are still sisters in Christ.
The first post I wrote here was not dramatic and didn’t announce this new blog as well as it probably should. It was simply titled this: “He leads me.” But maybe it didn’t need to say anything other than that. I write here, trying to scribble an encouraging verse most Sundays and adding the occasional post, but my job here is definitely behind the scenes. The writers here are the ones that stand out, and their heartfelt posts teach me something every single day.
In the last two years, I have had great change in my personal and professional life. Back then I lived in a different place, had different clients, and thought my life was headed in a certain direction. Since then I’ve added a career path, moved, and left the church I had attended for 20 years. I’ve found a new one, and coincidentally (even though I don’t believe in coincidences) I’ll be joining a different one right around the date of this blog’s anniversary. God did a lot in those two years in my life and with this blog. The readership has grown, writers have joined us, and people began referring to this site as a blogging ministry.
There are so many wonderful posts here. So many insights that our writers share with their stories. I hope you’ll take some time to check things out. Here are some of my favorite posts from our writers during the past year:

I am grateful to every single writer that has shared her words here. I am grateful to the readers who have come and shared their comments. And I’m grateful to God for His love and patience.
Last year on our one year anniversary I said this: “I think this is part of what makes God so interesting. He’s truly our father, and no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through, there are universal lessons there that all lead to a greater relationship with Him. What a blessing.”
This is even clearer to me now. I see how He works in each of our lives. I see how He works with me through my struggles.
PUT ON THE NEW, EPHESIANS 4:24 (NIV)
“… and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
This month we’re starting something fun so you can get to know our writers a little bit more. I have a very short interview that I’ll be posting with them, little by little as I get them in.
If you’re not yet signed up for our weekly roundup, what are you waiting for? You’ll get an email each Saturday that gives you all the posts you might have missed during the week. What a great way to start your weekend! We’d love it if you signed up here.
